How to take care and clean your jewels
Sterling silver (925) tarnishes because of a chemical reaction with oxygen or sulfur
particles in the air. If it doesn’t tarnish then it is not sterling silver!
How to prevent tarnishing of your jewelry
- Make sure you remove it when you are about to swim or shower.
- Avoid the prolonged exposure to sunlight.
- Avoid using perfumes and care products that they will accelerate tarnishing. Put your jewelry on last before going out. Also, do not use cleaning products while wearing your jewelry.
- Store it in a cool, dark place in an air-tight container with no other materials. Store it separately to avoid scratches.
How to clean your jewelry
- Firstly, try with some normal soap and water.
- Use baking soda and water and scrub gently with a cloth or a toothbrush. Avoid any stones.
- Polish it with a specifically designed polish cloth.
- If it's heavily tarnished or has stubborn stains, it’s best to take it to a professional jeweler, that will restore your piece without damaging it, using specialized tools and products.
